OUR UNIVERSITY MINISTRY IN ASIA OFFERS A TREMENDOUS OPPORTUNITY FOR MEDICAL TEAMS TO SERVE ILL AND SPECIAL NEEDS ORPHANAGE CHILDREN AS WELL AS OTHER MEDICAL AREAS.

The teams consist of our university students as well as volunteer licensed medical doctors and other practicing medical professionals. We work alongside in-country doctors providing hands on care for those in need. A short term medical mission team can make a world of difference when we focus our time on training medical and non-medical caregivers. Sharing medical knowledge and technique with our facility partners brings aid to many today and countless others in the future.

WHAT WILL WE DO?

In our Asia program, a medical university team will work alongside in-country doctors, our U.S. volunteer doctors and other medical professionals as well as your own professors. You will work with children from newborn to 12+ years of age, and many times you will work with adults. We work in cerebral palsy children’s facilities as well as other rehab clinics. Your time in Asia will be busy working and helping others, but you will enjoy walking on the Great Wall of Asia and time for sightseeing.

HOW SOON DO I NEED TO SCHEDULE A TRIP?

We begin working on our Asia trips 10 months to a year in advance. Our teams are invited by the facilities and approved by government officials, apply for Visas, etc. so this preparation takes time to plan both on the U.S. and Asia side.

DO YOU REQUIRE UNIVERSITY PROFESSORS TO TRAVEL WITH THE STUDENTS?

Yes, we ask that one or more professors from the university travel with their students. The professor will be responsible to communicate instructions and guide their team throughout the trip. University guidelines must be followed as well as LHGM’s guidelines. Our staff will be with your team the entire trip to take care of all of your needs.

DO YOU WORK WITH STUDENTS OR FACULTY?

We ask that your university staff work directly with our ministry in setting up and planning the trip. We will work with the professors or program directors on the specifics of the trip, and they will communicate the information to their students. However, our staff will be available to answer questions and offer help to university staff and students anytime..

ARE WE REQUIRED TO PARTICIPATE IN ANY TRAINING?

Yes, we will work with your university team on cultural and trip training to make sure everyone is well prepared before traveling.

DO YOU PROVIDE FUNDRAISING PROGRAMS?

No, fundraising will be managed by your university.

WILL I NEED SHOTS TO TRAVEL TO ASIA?

Please check with your local health department on the recommendation for travel to Asia.

WHO ARRANGES INTERNATIONAL TRAVEL?

LHGM will arrange all travel for your team. We will purchase your international airline tickets as well as all in country travel. All team members will need a U.S. Passport and apply for a Visa. Our staff will aid your team every step of the way in preparing for your trip to Asia.

WHAT IS YOUR PAYMENT SCHEDULE AND WHAT IS INCLUDED IN MY TRIP COST?

We request a deposit (half of the total cost) be paid 5 months before travel and the balance paid 3 months before travel. Everything you need is included in your trip cost except your Visa fee and your personal spending money. Airfare, meals, transportation, lodging, and sightseeing, are all included and all you will need to bring is spending money for any personal between meal snacks while out or shopping for souvenirs.

A university staff member can fill out our University Ministry Request Form, and we will get in touch with you to answer questions and help you plan your mission trip.
